Unbeaten record slips for Ellenborough Rangers

ELLENBOROUGH Rangers U14s’ plans of going through the whole season undefeated went for a burton in the first round of the League Cup when they were beaten by arch rivals Kells, 26-20.

Kells must now be firm favourites to lift the trophy after this great win.

Kells also secured second in the league after Sunday’s fixtures and go into the play-offs with home advantage where they will entertain Wath Brow Hornets, the team they beat on Sunday 20-0 to secure that second spot.

Egremont Rangers claimed the fourth and final play-off place after finishing their league season with two very impressive victories over Glasson Rangers (77-0) and Maryport/Seaton (44-0).

Egremont’s reward for making the play-offs is a daunting trip to Ellenborough, the league champions.

In the U16 games Kells lifted the league trophy after their good win over closest rivals Glasson Rangers with an 18-10 scoreline.

Broughton Red Rose’s good run continues as they move into joint second after two good results against Egremont Rangers.

They took points at Gillfoot Park 24-12 and won the home leg 18-0.

Glasson Rangers are still holding on to second with Broughton even though they had mixed fortunes recently.

They travelled to Wath Brow and had a great 24-22 win but then went off the rails when they entertained Kells, losing that one by 18-10.

It should be a cracker this coming weekend when Glasson travel to Broughton in what could be a top four place decider.
