TVs On A Need To Know Basis And This, You Need To Know!

Advertising feature. When it comes to buying a brand new television there are a whole host of factors that you need to take into consideration to make sure that the TV you purchase is the right one for you. As with most electrical products the technology in TVs is improving and they are getting increasingly sophisticated. There are many technological features that you need to get your head around before you choose your next television, with features such as High Definition and the TVs resolution having a major impact on the quality of the TV and in turn the price it costs. And as purchasing a new television is an infrequent occurrence and you will have to live with the TV you choose for a number of years, it is important that you take the time and do the required research to make the right decision.

Televisions are much more powerful than ever before and the clarity of the picture is getting better all the time. This is largely down to the resolution of TVs, which is one of the most important considerations to take into account when buying a new TV. There has been a shift in new televisions from a resolution of 720p to one of 1080p resulting in a significantly clearer picture, but consequently these TVs cost about 50% more. However, it is well worth forking out for that higher resolution, especially if you want to take full advantage of your high definition products such as blu-ray DVDs.

Another key specification is the contrast ratio of the TV, which is the difference between the darkest black and the lightest white. Once again the higher the ratio here the better and a high contrast ratio is required for a really sharp picture, with a contrast ratio of 5,000:1 a good benchmark to go by and that comes as standard on leading LCD televisions. The brightness of the TV also makes a huge difference in terms of picture quality and you should be looking to buy a TV with a brightness rating of at least 550 cd/m2. It is important that all three of these factors, the resolution, contrast ratio and brightness, are all reasonably high as a low rating in any of these will severely decrease the picture quality of the TV.

Whatever budget you have to spend on buying a new TV, John Lewis has a wide range to TVs to suit every customer. Whether you’re looking to buy a LCD, plasma or LED TVs there are dozens to choose from that are made by a variety of manufacturers from Panasonic to Sony. These highly regarded TV manufacturers produce high quality and reliable products that will last for years. There is of course a wide range of TV sizes to choose from as well and the size of your room should be taken into consideration when deciding to buy a 32 inch or 50 inch TV, the latter of which is the perfect size when viewing from 3 metres away. Finally the TVs connectivity also needs to be considered with HDMI connectivity required for high definition pictures. So there are a lot of factors and technological features to take into consideration when buying a new TV.
