WORKINGTON Comets will be at full strength for this weekend’s home clash with Somerset which kicks off three home meeting for the Comets in as many weeks.

It will be the first time Comets have raced since the start of the month after last weekend’s break for the British Grand Prix, which has given some extra recuperation time for some of the riders.

Dane Peter Kildemand returns to the side after he missed the away match at Newcastle with an elbow injury and there are no new fresh injury worries for the Comets.

Team manager Ian Thomas said: “All the lads have had a good break and they are all ready to go.

“The swelling on Peter’s elbow has gone down so there are no problems with him so he is all right to race.”

Thomas was happy with how the new Comets line up performed against Birmingham and Newcastle so will continue with Craig Cook at No1 with other heat leaders Andre Compton at No3 and captain Chris Schramm at five.

Comets sit just above Somerset in the table and a three point home win would help put some breathing space between them and some of the teams below them.

Thomas added: “We did all right a couple of weekends ago by beating one of the top teams in the league at home and we lost to Newcastle away but I don’t think anybody expected us to get anything from them.

“However, Somerset are no mugs and have some good riders so we will have to make sure we perform to win.

After the Somerset match Comets face successive weekend home matches against Rye House and Glasgow which could go some way to where Comets finish this season.

Thomas added: “We go out to win every meeting because every one is vital particularly when they are at home.”

Tomorrow’s meeting begins at 7pm.
