Wind turbines are restful

I READ that wind turbines are ‘terrors,’ ‘infernal machines,’ ‘monstrosities,’ ‘warts,’ and ‘monolithic detritus.’

Allerdale council should have charged a premium for banks and TV crews in Cockermouth

IN THEIR desperate attempts to avoid granting 12 months parking relief for Cockermouth traders, Allerdale council stated they had generously “given up spaces in Fairfield car park for temporary banks and providing room in Wakefield Road car park for the Bridge Cafe.”

Is traffic more of a danger to schoolchildren than dog fouling?

WHAT a disappointing reflection on modern society that schoolchildren will not be taken to a local nature reserve (Times & Star, April 9), as teachers said it did not pass the risk assessment due to dog fouling.

You ain't seen nothing yet if Labour get re-elected

IF YOU thought that local community views about planning applications, such as wind farms, had been ignored during the last 13 years of this authoritarian Government, then you ain’t seen nothing yet, if Labour gets re-elected.

Financial arguments against windfarms are overwhelming

I STRONGLY support the comments made by the Times & Star correspondent, Geoff Fawcett (letters, April 2) who drew attention to the inefficiency of wind farms.

Cockermouth must send out the message that it welcomes new visitors

WITH reference to Councillor Wilson’s letter (Times & Star, April 2) I fear he was either missing the point or was writing on the morning of the previous day.

We should set up a bus users group

OTHER than feeling offended by a variety of complaints about the company he manages, Christopher Bowles of Stagecoach (letters, February 26) failed to address any of the customer issues raised in previous letters.
